We all started out with enthusiasm on our journey toward the perfect physique. But sooner or later, we all realized that – even though training gives us satisfaction and has a positive impact on our mood – it can also be exhausting sometimes.

Going to the gym or doing your home workout on a daily basis is already exhausting enough, especially if other things in our lives demand our focus and attention.

For these reasons, I have put together a list of the best “Things” to help you.

The main goal of this article is to aggregate useful products that can help you on your fitness journey and allow you to reach your fitness goal faster and easier.

#1 Protein Powders

There are an enormous amount of different protein powders out there. The list below should serve you well. You cannot go wrong with any of them.

The truth is, we get used to a certain product over time and simply change powders to gain a little bit of variety. I have done that myself.

Whey Protein from Optimum Nutrition: One of the high-quality powders that are available internationally (basically in every country) is the one from Optimum Nutrition. The best protein powder overall, but as I said, tastes are different and sometimes a little variety is what we need to regain motivation towards your goals.

Nitro-Tech Series from MuscleTech: Another good product (even though a little overpriced in my opinion) are the powders from MuscleTech. In case you are on a cut, their so-called “Ripped” whey protein mix is for you.

#2 Strength Training Books

You can probably find somewhere in a book everything humanity knows. The same is true for strength training. Some of them are quite long and can be completely overwhelming, but nevertheless, reading is powerful. Luckily for you, our articles will tell you most of those things in a somewhat shorter form, so it is totally up to you whether or not you want to further increase your fitness knowledge with the following books or not.

The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding: I was really happy that I finally picked up this classic. It is really a heavyweight of a book and for most people, it is probably an overkill. Also, the training program suggested has nothing to do with a beginner program. In fact, even for intermediate weightlifters and experienced bodybuilders, this program should bring them to their limits. Nevertheless, I really like the writing style, as it is no-BS advice from arguably the most famous bodybuilder of all time. I have always admired Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has an exceptional drive.

Starting Strength: This is the best book out there if you want to start using big barbell compound exercises. Mark Rippetoe explains in excruciating detail every facet of Barbell training and gives you a demanding but very simple to follow training program that will guarantee fast and steady progress over time if you listen to him. The single best book out there if you want to start to train with an Olympic barbell.

Strength Training Anatomy: A nice addition in case you are interested in muscle anatomy and different exercises. When it comes to illustrations, this is the best book on the market. No competition! It has perfect pictures, so you can see the different exercises. It is by no means a must-have book and you cannot also read it at night. It is more of a reference book, which can be useful if you want to figure out how to do an exercise or which exercise you might want to incorporate into your training routine.

Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning: This is the simple best book out there when it comes to comprehensive and scientific coverage of strength training. But I am not going to recommend it to the general fitness enthusiast. It is simply too comprehensive and difficult. It is clearly an academic book written by Ph.D.’s for professionals within the strength training and conditioning field. If you want to become a professional strength coach, this is the book for you.

#3 Personal Development Books

Strength training can be considered a sport, and it definitely is one, but it is also part of self-improvement. Many people (including myself) started to workout in order to change their lives for the better, and resistance training is one of the most powerful things that we can do to enhance our overall life.

The following list of books does not focus on strength training or fitness, but it will help you to find direction in life and work toward your goals. One of the most life-changing books I have ever read:

The One Thing: The books perfectly delivers its core message. Focus at only one thing at a time. Do not split your resources and energy by pursuing different goals. If we focus on only one thing it is way easier to achieve excellence and to reach our goals. It actually goes even deeper. It helps you to answer the following question: “What’s the one thing you can do, such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?”

Essentialism: Based on the following narrative: “The unimportance of basically everything”. It reminds us to get rid of everything non-essential. This makes life easier, more enjoyable and leads us to be more successful.

#4 Other Supplements

There are several supplements, which can slightly boost your progress.

BCAA Energy: This is not just a BCAA supplement which contains the most important amino acids. It is also an energy booster, which is very useful pre-training in case you are tired and also after your training (for obvious reasons).
